About
I'm Alankrit. I'm an engineer who's spent most of my career building things from zero to one - platforms, data systems, and now AI agents that operate in high-stakes environments.
I studied Computer Science at IIT Delhi, then spent years in founding and early engineering roles - building backend infrastructure at scale at Twitter, and helping build companies including Afterpay and Spotnana from the ground up. Different domains, same underlying question every time: how do you build systems that actually work at scale?
These days that question meets security. I'm Co-Founder and CTO at Simbian, where we're building AI agents for security operations. Along the way I authored the Cyber Defense Benchmark - the only public benchmark for AI in SecOps - which showed that frontier models top out around 45% on real security tasks, and which anchors how we think about building agents that improve past that. I came at cybersecurity from the AI and engineering side, not the other way around - which shapes how I see the whole space.
This site is where I think out loud - about AI agents, cybersecurity, the craft of building technology companies, and the things I get wrong along the way.
What I focus on
- AI systems - how agents work, where they fail, and what "production-ready" actually means
- Cybersecurity - an engineer's perspective on why the status quo is broken
- Building companies - zero-to-one engineering, architecture decisions, and the messy parts nobody writes about
